World Wide Social Studies, Book 2, is the Class 2 social studies textbook in the Allied Schools list, published by AEP | arvo education press. It carries the SRM mark on the cover. If your child studies at an Allied School, this is the book that covers who we are, where we live, how we should behave and what makes Pakistan and the planet what they are.
The cover is a crowded, colourful scene that already previews the syllabus. Minar-e-Pakistan and the Mazar-e-Quaid rise on one horizon and an old fort with watchtowers on the other; in the middle a boy winks as he looks through a telescope, with a globe behind him. Around him sit a small model house, a solar-system model, a clay model of an ancient city, a construction helmet, a judge’s gavel, a tablet and a compass – one object for each corner of the subject, from community life and law to history, technology and geography.

How the units connect
The book widens its view as it goes. Unit 1 starts with the child’s own world – the neighbourhood, whether people live in villages or cities, and what their parents and neighbours do for a living. Units 2 and 3 turn to behaviour: sharing, treating others well, admitting and learning from mistakes, then obeying traffic rules and understanding the public services that keep a town running. Unit 4 lifts the view to the country and its cultures, Unit 5 looks at where food and goods come from, and Units 6 and 7 finish with living things, the Earth and its water.
That mix of civics, values, geography and simple science is what social studies looks like at Class 2, and it is why the same book can prompt a conversation about obeying traffic rules one day and about crops and livestock the next.
