Urdu Kay Rang – Arvo Kay Sang, Class 5 (Jamaat Panjum) is the Class 5 Urdu textbook of Allied Schools, published by AEP | arvo education press. The purple cover shows the Urdu title in bold calligraphy with the friendly robot mascot in its loop, three happy children jumping with books in their hands, and a skyline of domes and minarets behind them. Its bottom banner says the book follows the National Curriculum of Pakistan 2022.
For the 2027-28 session, the Class 5 edition marks a step up from the earlier Urdu Kay Rang books: alongside the hamd, naat and poems that Urdu readers always expect, it has lessons on information technology and the internet, on pollution and the environment, and on saving electricity, subjects that connect Urdu reading to the child’s daily life.
Full table of contents: 12 lessons and 2 reviews
The contents page is printed in Urdu, with columns for serial number, lesson title and page number. The lesson titles are given below in Roman Urdu, with a short English note, in book order. ‘Jaiza’ means review and ‘bara-e-mutala’ means for reading.
Lessons 1 to 3: faith and poetry
- 1. Hamd (poem), a poem in praise of Allah (p. 1)
- 2. Naat (poem), a poem in praise of the Prophet (peace be upon him) (p. 10)
- 3. Rahmatul-lil-Aalameen (peace be upon him), a lesson on the Prophet as a mercy to all the worlds (p. 17)
Why it helps: The book opens, as an Urdu book should, with a hamd and a naat, followed by a lesson on the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Reciting poetry builds pronunciation and memory; the lesson builds respect and character.
Lessons 4 to 6: the modern world and reading practice
- 4. Information Technology aur Internet, on information technology and the internet (p. 26)
- 5. Mahauliyati Aloodgi, on environmental pollution (p. 34)
- 6. Yeh Phir Haath Nahin Aata (for reading), a lesson to read for enjoyment (p. 45)
- Jaiza 1 (Review 1) (p. 48)
Why it helps: Lessons 4 and 5 bring technology and pollution into Urdu, so children learn the vocabulary of the world they live in. Lesson 6 is for reading practice. The first review checks the first half of the year’s lessons.
Lessons 7 to 9: stories, patriotism and nature
- 7. Meenu ka Wada, Meenu’s promise, a story (p. 53)
- 8. Aye Mere Watan (poem), a poem to the homeland (p. 61)
- 9. Meetha Phal, the sweet fruit, a lesson (p. 68)
Why it helps: A story about keeping a promise, a patriotic poem and a nature lesson. Together they mix prose and poetry, values and vocabulary.
Lessons 10 to 12: science, saving and reading
- 10. Pur-Israr Kainaat, the mysterious universe (page number not clear in our photograph)
- 11. Bijli Bachao, save electricity (p. 83)
- 12. Gandum ka Dana (for reading), the grain of wheat (p. 91)
- Jaiza 2 (Review 2) (p. 95)
Why it helps: Three lessons on the universe, on saving electricity (a daily concern in Pakistan) and a closing reading lesson, then the second review. The practical lessons help children connect Urdu reading to values at home.
Why Class 5 Urdu matters
Class 5 Urdu is where reading becomes comprehension and writing becomes composition. Children are expected to read an unseen passage with understanding, to write letters and essays, and to recite poems with expression. A book that has poetry, real-life topics and two review sections gives them practice in all of these. The lessons on technology, pollution and electricity also reinforce what children learn in their English, computer and science books.
