Cinderella is the Grade 2 story reader on the Allied School Class 2 list for the 2027-28 session, from the Graded English Readers series published by Albakho International in a ‘collaborated development’ with TLGS (both logos are on the cover). The cover shows Cinderella in a pink ball gown in front of a castle under a big moon, with her fairy godmother in a green dress and glasses waving a wand.
A graded reader is a story written at a reading level suited to a class, so a seven-year-old can finish a whole book alone. Cinderella is the ideal first choice: nearly every child knows the outline, which makes the English easier to follow, and the satisfying ending is a reward for finishing.
The author’s introduction (the page we photographed)
The book opens with a short Author’s Introduction about the Brothers Grimm, Jacob Ludwig Karl (1785 to 1863) and Wilhelm Carl (1786 to 1859). They were German academics, cultural researchers and authors who collected and published folklore during the 19th century, and were among the first and best-known collectors of German and European folk tales. They popularised tale types such as Cinderella, The Frog Prince, The Goose-Girl, Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel, Rumpelstiltskin, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. Their classic collection, Children’s and Household Tales, was published in two volumes, the first in 1812 and the second in 1815, and many of the tales are available in more than 100 languages and remain popular with children.
Why this reader suits Class 2
Reading a complete story builds stamina, which short passages cannot. A graded reader controls vocabulary and sentence length, so a child can enjoy the plot without getting stuck. The story also opens conversations about kindness, patience and fairness, themes that fit well with the school’s value education. And because the author’s introduction explains where fairy tales come from, children learn that stories travel across countries and centuries.

Reading Cinderella together
Read the first page aloud, then take turns by page. After each chapter or section, ask what happened, how each character felt and what the character should have done differently. Ask your child to draw the moment they liked most. The Brothers Grimm introduction makes a nice conversation starter: ask where else your child has heard fairy tales.
Who, when, where and how
