About this book

The Activity Book of Cambridge Global English, APSACS Edition (Third edition), Level 3 is the practice partner of Learner’s Book 3 for Class 3 in Army Public Schools. It is published by Cambridge University Press and ‘Based on National Curriculum of Pakistan 2022, 2026 edition’. The red cover shows two children painting a snail on an easel. Available to order now for the 2027-28 session.

Where the Learner’s Book teaches, the Activity Book makes the child write, read and think. Each of the nine units has five topic lessons, a quiz and a one-page ‘My global progress’ self-check, so the child learns to judge their own work.

Full table of contents: Units 1 to 9, every lesson and page

Every lesson title is listed below exactly as printed, with its page number.

Unit 1: Working together

  • 1. Ramadan (p. 4)
  • 2. Let’s play! (p. 6)
  • 3. Team activities (p. 8)
  • 4. Performing a play (p. 10)
  • 5. Following the team rules (p. 12)
  • 6. Quiz (p. 14)
  • My global progress (p. 15)

Why it helps: The opening lessons practise reading about Ramadan and then move to games and a play. Performing a play gets a quiet child to speak, and ‘Following the team rules’ connects to fair play.

Unit 2: Family and memories

  • 1. Wedding photos (p. 16)
  • 2. Wedding customs (p. 18)
  • 3. When I was young (p. 20)
  • 4. Birthdays (p. 22)
  • 5. Special memories (p. 24)
  • 6. Quiz (p. 26)
  • My global progress (p. 27)

Why it helps: Writing about weddings, childhood and birthdays is easy because children have personal stories. ‘When I was young’ practises the past tense in a natural way.

Unit 3: The desert

  • 1. Desert weather (p. 28)
  • 2. Desert animals (p. 30)
  • 3. Desert plants (p. 32)
  • 4. Friendship (p. 34)
  • 5. A Mexican folk tale (p. 36)
  • 6. Quiz (p. 38)
  • My global progress (p. 39)

Why it helps: Desert weather, animals and plants provide three short information-text lessons, then friendship and a Mexican folk tale move to fiction, so the child practises both kinds of reading.

Unit 4: Look again

  • 1. Optical illusions (p. 40)
  • 2. That’s impossible! (p. 42)
  • 3. Very strange! (p. 44)
  • 4. Hidden pictures (p. 46)
  • 5. Animal camouflage (p. 48)
  • 6. Quiz (p. 50)
  • My global progress (p. 51)

Why it helps: Illusions and hidden pictures keep the child curious, and the vocabulary of description (strange, impossible, hidden) gets repeated naturally.

Unit 5: Inventors and inventions

  • 1. Young inventors (p. 52)
  • 2. A history of inventions (p. 54)
  • 3. Problems and solutions (p. 56)
  • 4. Carrying things (p. 58)
  • 5. If I built a house (p. 60)
  • 6. Quiz (p. 62)
  • My global progress (p. 63)

Why it helps: A strong creative unit: the child imagines a house of their own and describes it, while ‘Problems and solutions’ teaches the cause-and-effect structure used in many exam passages.

Unit 6: Dinosaurs

  • 1. The history of dinosaurs (p. 64)
  • 2. Dinosaur Q & A (p. 66)
  • 3. Describing dinosaurs (p. 68)
  • 4. Dinosaur discoveries (p. 70)
  • 5. Baby dinosaurs (p. 72)
  • 6. Quiz (p. 74)
  • My global progress (p. 75)

Why it helps: Five dinosaur lessons give plenty of practice with comparisons and relative clauses, in a topic children enjoy.

Unit 7: Puzzles and codes

  • 1. Bugs and flowers (p. 76)
  • 2. Secret messages (p. 78)
  • 3. Solving problems (p. 80)
  • 4. Have you ever…? (p. 82)
  • 5. A Nasreddin story (p. 84)
  • 6. Quiz (p. 86)
  • My global progress (p. 87)

Why it helps: The Nasreddin story is a favourite from the Muslim world, a humorous tale with a lesson, and the present perfect appears in ‘Have you ever…?’

Unit 8: Our amazing body

  • 1. Parts of the body (p. 88)
  • 2. Healthy and strong (p. 90)
  • 3. I don’t feel well! (p. 92)
  • 4. What are you doing next week? (p. 94)
  • 5. Amazing facts (p. 96)
  • 6. Quiz (p. 98)
  • My global progress (p. 99)

Why it helps: ‘I don’t feel well!’ teaches children to say what is wrong, and ‘What are you doing next week?’ teaches the present continuous for plans.

Unit 9: Big and little

  • 1. Which size is best? (p. 100)
  • 2. All kinds of robots (p. 102)
  • 3. As big as the sun (p. 104)
  • 4. Tallest, longest, heaviest (p. 106)
  • 5. A tale of big and small (p. 108)
  • 6. Quiz (p. 110)
  • My global progress (p. 111)

Why it helps: Superlatives (tallest, longest, heaviest) are the closing grammar of the year, and the book ends with a tale of big and small.

Who is it for, why, and how to use it

It is for Class 3 children at Army Public Schools. One lesson (two pages) per sitting is enough. The ‘My global progress’ pages are valuable: they teach the child to say what they can do now, and give parents an easy way to see where help is needed.

  • What: a 111-page practice book, 9 units, each with five lessons, a quiz and a progress page.
  • Why: daily writing and reading practice.
  • When: alongside the Learner’s Book.
  • Whom: Class 3 students.

Frequently asked questions

What is ‘My global progress’?
It is a one-page self-check at the end of each unit, where the child ticks what they can do.

Can I use it without the Learner’s Book?
It follows the Learner’s Book unit by unit, so most children use both.

Is it the Third edition?
Yes. The cover says ‘Third edition’ and ‘APSACS edition’.
