About this book

Urdu Ki Copy (for Play Group) is the Urdu practice copy on the Allied School Play Group list for the 2027-28 session. Its purple cover shows the title in white Urdu calligraphy, two cheerful children (one with a crayon, one with a big red book) among stars and green hills, and a white panel at the bottom with lines for Name, Class, Section, Campus and a row of boxes for Student ID.

This is a copy, a notebook for writing in, not a textbook. It goes with the Urdu alphabet book (Urdu Play Group), where a child learns each letter, and is where they practise tracing and writing it.

What we know about this copy

We have photographed the cover only, so we do not describe the inner pages. What the cover tells us is that it is made for Play Group (the Urdu on the cover says so) and carries Allied’s name panel, so each copy can be labelled with the child’s identity from the start. If you need to know the ruling or page count before ordering, message us on WhatsApp and we will check our copy and reply.

Why a dedicated Urdu copy

A Play Group child writes large, so the ruling of the copy matters, and a copy kept for Urdu keeps the language’s right-to-left practice separate from English work. Having a labelled copy for each subject also teaches a young child the first habit of school: one book for one subject.

Tips for Urdu writing practice

Urdu is written from right to left, which is the opposite of English. Before the child writes, show them where to start on the right-hand side of the page and let them trace the direction with a finger. Say the name and sound of each letter as they write, and keep the English and Urdu copies separate so the two directions do not get mixed up.

Helping a three-year-old hold the pencil

Practice books only work if a small hand can hold the pencil comfortably. Some simple points help:

  • Choose a short, thick pencil or a chunky crayon; long thin pencils are harder for small fingers.
  • Show the pinch grip with the thumb and first finger, with the pencil resting on the middle finger.
  • Keep sessions short, five to ten minutes, and stop while the child is still happy.
  • Praise effort and neat tracing rather than perfect shapes; accuracy comes with age.
  • Let the child sit upright at a table, with feet supported, and use good light.

Who, when, where and how

Whom: Play Group students at Allied Schools (about three years old) and the adult who sits with them. When: through the 2027-28 session. Where: at school and at home. How: write the child’s name and class on the panel on day one, and use the copy together with the Urdu alphabet book.
